A HOUSE WITH ONE HUNDRED PINES
From the series “Houses with Columns”
This is a summer house, designed to be used occasionally by its owner and for short-term rental.
Where else can the arguments for a project come from, if not from its surroundings?
A site filled with pine trees, dunes, and the sea in the background, a landscape condition that many of the projects surrounding this house completely overlook. Thus, this project also emerges as a critical response to the lack of sensitivity toward the context that predominates in the area.
The structure seeks to solve more than just the problem of gravity. Beyond support, it generates a free, fluid floor plan, allowing freedom of movement and flexibility in arranging the social area, but also freedom in the design itself. Columns spaced 3.45 meters apart in both directions define this fluid space, while slender columns every 1.15 meters form the perimeter structure. The latter support the fixed panels, enclose the expansion areas, and foster a vertical relationship with the surroundings.
Within this freedom of design, various volumes appear, each housing different functions: beach storage, bathrooms, sleeping areas, barbecue, and pool. But above all, they articulate the spaces, scaling, separating, connecting, concealing, and encouraging movement.
